Typical Specifications: Dimensions, tare weight and permitted loads vary by manufacturer and shipping line equipment. ISO Tank requirements depend on tank codes and cargo characteristics; road tankers follow vehicle, road and axle regulations in the operating country.

Volume & Weight Calculator

Measure the longest dimensions after packing. Results are estimates for consultation; final freight calculations follow carrier terms.

VOLUME CALCULATOR

Volume (CBM) Calculation

Length × Width × Height × Quantity

Total Volume1.000 CBM
Equivalent Liters1,000 L

Formula: Convert dimensions to meters, then calculate L × W × H × quantity.

CHARGEABLE WEIGHT

Actual & Volumetric Weight Calculation

The larger value is shown as the reference weight.

Total Actual Weight100.0 kg
Volumetric Weight166.7 kg
Reference Chargeable Weight166.7 kg

Formula: L(cm) × W(cm) × H(cm) ÷ selected divisor × quantity. Applied divisors and rounding rules vary by carrier.

Calculation Guide: The greater of volumetric and actual weight is often used for freight charges, but actual billing rules depend on transport mode, route, minimum chargeable weight, goods, packaging and contract terms.

Volume & Weight Calculations

Learn how sea freight volume and airline volumetric and chargeable weights are calculated.

01

Sea Freight Volume (CBM)

For sea LCL cargo, convert all outer package dimensions to meters, then multiply length, width, height and quantity to calculate volume.

L(m) × W(m) × H(m) × Quantity
02

Air Freight Volumetric Weight

Airlines measure outer package dimensions in centimeters and divide by the volumetric weight divisor specified in their freight rules.

L(cm) × W(cm) × H(cm) ÷ Divisor × Quantity
03

Air Freight Chargeable Weight

Air freight generally compares total actual and volumetric weight and uses the higher value as the reference chargeable weight.
